Something to look forward to

April 29, 2016

Something to look forward to!

I thought I’d try and take your mind off the fact that summer seems a long way off, with this very chilly weather, by letting you know about some lovely family days out that will be coming up very soon.

The quickest way to cheer myself up, when need be, is to retrieve my diary and plan some fun days out. I call them soul food! As my Dad is currently on a 28 day cruise, around the Hawaiian Islands (and keeps sending me photos and complaining it’s a bit hot) I began to get a bit fed up with the chilly 3 degree start to the mornings. So I whipped out my diary and booked in some lovely family days out and I thought I’d share them with you.

So, the good news is they start in May, so not long to wait at all.

Badminton is first on my list as it is on from the 4th – 8th May.

Although advanced booking has now closed, admission can be purchased at the gate (cash only). Grandstand seat and membership badges can be purchased online here - https://boxoffice.badminton-horse.co.uk/Online/default.asp

Next comes the Heathfield & District Agricultural Show Society on the 28th May. This show looks great fun and there is something for everyone. From Heavy Horse and Terrier Racing, to Birds of Prey and a Gun Dog Display.

Tickets can be bought on line here https://heathfieldshow.ticketsrv.co.uk/ and children, under 16, are free of charge!

Next on the diary comes The Surrey County Show on the 30th May.  This year looks to be really great with lots of competitions including cattle, sheep, pig, goat, donkey and horse competitions. A petting farm for little ones, a fun dog show, Punch & Judy, donkey rides, a milking parlour, bees and honey tent and much more!

Tickets can be bought here https://surreycountyshow.ticketsrv.co.uk/ and are great value. A family ticket is just £36.00.

Next we have the Royal Three Counties Show held on the 17th – 19th June. There’s tons to see and do over the two days of this show. It promises to be the largest livestock and equine show and the only place to see The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, outside of London.

Tickets can be purchased here https://ticketing.threecounties.co.uk/single-day-tickets.aspx

For those of you with a passion for a Palomino then a day at the British Palomino Society shouldn’t be missed.

Held on the 9th July at the Three Counties Showground, in Worcestershire, this show is open to everyone, not just Palominos!

Click here for the full Gala Show Schedule.

There’s an exciting new show this year, the Countryfile Live show set in the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace on the 4th-7th August.

All the presenters are going to be there and the show promises to be ‘one big family day out’.

Features include a Wildlife Zone, Village Green, The Great British Ice Cream Parlour and, of course, an Equine Village.

There’s a great show video that will give you a taste of the show.  http://www.threecounties.co.uk/threecounties/

There is a dedicated equine village and over 2,800 entries over the three days including 51 Horse of the Year Show qualifiers.

If you live in the West of England then The Dunster Show might be of interest. It promises to provide a unique opportunity to see the best of Somerset farming and livestock. Dunster Show takes place annually on the third Friday in August (19th August) at the beautiful setting of Dunster Castle.

We’re back to Surrey on the 28th & 29th August for the Edenbridge and Oxted Agricultural Show.

Not just horses at this show but also meerkats, hairy spiders, massive snakes, cuddly chinchillas and the magnificent Bearded Dragon, to name but a few.

For those of you a bit more North, then Blair Castle Horse Trials and County Fair will be one for you. Set in the stunning grounds of Blair Castle this is a must for all true horse enthusiasts with the exciting three-day eventing and the elegant and truly beautiful dressage classes.

There is also a gorgeous shopping village full of stands offering bespoke jewellery and handmade chocolates, organic meats and casual clothing. Something for everyone.

There is excellent accommodation to stay plus the benefit of an onsite campsite too!

For more details and tickets please click here.

Finally, there’s Burghley. One to squeeze in, just before back to school and a great one at that!

Here you here get the full monty! Three-day eventing, dressage and show-jumping, with all of the top riders in the world competing.

For everything you need to know, from how to get there, where to stay, buying some tickets – just click here.

So I hope I have given you a little inspiration and helped cheer up an otherwise very chilly day.

New at luvponies this week are these Cross Country sets. This is due to popular demand as I have had repeated requests for them. This style is brand new and extra comfortable to wear. A zip has been added at the back, for extra ease to wear.

The new sets come in purple and pink, with matching hat covers, gloves and socks and are available in children and adult sizes.

The tops come in ages 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and adult size 10, 12 and 14. They are £25.00.

The hat covers fit one size and come in skull hat and over the peak hat. They are £14.50.

The gloves come in two sizes. Kid’s are for age 5-10 years and adult for 11 years+.

I hope you have nice Bank Holiday weekend plans. Do let me know if you visit any of the shows I’ve suggested and what you thought of them. Hopefully you’ll soon be seeing a luvponies stand at some of them too!

With very best wishes,

Tracy
